Stephen Grainer has been creating for the web for over a decade and can remember when background music and font tags were in style. He is currently employed as a web developer and print designer for a university in Richmond, Virginia.
A Short Biography
Stephen was born in Springfield, Virginia, but moved to New Kent County when he was still young. In fourth grade, his parents divorced, and he moved with his mother to Richmond. There he remained until he left for James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1998. At JMU, he studied computer science, until he realized that design was his true passion and switched majors to media arts and design, with an emphasis in interactive design. Upon graduation in May 2002, he found himself adrift in a world suddenly hostile to dotcom designers, and sought temporary employment in retail back in Richmond. Almost a year to the day after graduating from college, he was hired by a small department at another university as the web developer and print designer.
Passions and Interests
Stephen is a devout Christian. He loves to travel, and secretly yearns to become a travel writer. He has been to several countries in western Europe, Kenya, Venezuela, Belize, and quite a few places in the United States. When he's not currently travelling, he's busy dreaming or planning his next trip. He also loves reading and listening to music, his taste in both ranging greatly. He wishes he could be a great musician but is mostly content listening to others. He also wishes he could be a great writer; this website is his attempt at improving that skill. His perfectionist and artistic tendencies led him towards photography, which he also seeks to improve through this site. He has also been known to juggle, sketch, or play the piano.
